Advancing Our Scale-Up with RISE Processum in Höga Kusten / Örnsköldsvik

We’re excited to share the latest developments in our journey to bring CelluCircle’s circular textile recycling technology to commercial scale.  Together with RISE Processum, we’ve officially launched activities under Vinnova’s “Ökad resurseffektivitet och resiliens, etapp 2” programme, a national initiative focused on accelerating resource efficiency and resilience in Sweden’s bio-based industries.

Mapping the Road to Commercialisation

This programme sets the direction for our next 18 months, taking us toward Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 8, the stage where we validate our technology in a relevant, near-commercial environment.  The work will establish a clear pathway from lab-scale success to full commercial deployment.

Our collaboration with RISE provides us with access to their cutting-edge facilities, technical expertise, and a strong regional innovation ecosystem.  This partnership is a key enabler in accelerating our scale-up process.

Successful First Trials and What’s Next

Our first process trial at RISE Processum was a success, confirming that our recycled textile feedstock can run efficiently at a larger scale. Building on these results, we’ve already scheduled two additional trials, which will test and refine different process parameters to optimise output quality and production efficiency.

If these upcoming trials go according to plan, we’ll be ready to deploy our own pilot system, marking a major milestone toward scaling the CelluCircle process.

Why This Matters

Reaching TRL 8 isn’t just a technical achievement — it’s a crucial step toward bringing circular textile recycling technology to market. By proving that our process works at scale, we unlock new opportunities to build pilot and pre-commercial facilities in Sweden and beyond, in partnership with brands, municipalities, and recycling networks.

A Collaborative Effort

This work is made possible through close collaboration with RISE Processum and the support of Vinnova, Sweden’s innovation agency. Together, we’re laying the groundwork for a scalable, circular textile system that reduces waste, maximises resource efficiency, and enables new material flows for industry.
